Netherrealm Timemarks represent their difficulty levels. The higher the Timemark, the greater the difficulty of Netherrealm stages, and the better the drops.

You can switch freely among the Timemarks you have reached.
Increase Timemark
In Timemark 1-6, you can unlock the next Timemark by defeating all Plane Watchers in the current Timemark.
In Timemark 7, 8, and Profound Timemark 8, you must defeat the Traveler to unlock the next Timemark.
Offset Degree
Unlike other Timemarks, Timemark 7 and 8 have smaller degrees named Offset Degrees.
Timemark 7 consists of 3 Offset Degrees from 0 to 2. Timemark 8 consists of 3 Offset Degrees from 0 to 3.
The higher the Offset Degree, the harder the Netherrealm stage, and the better the drops.
You can switch freely among the Offset Degrees you have reached.
Defeating either the Plane Watcher or the Traveler unlocks Offset Degrees.
